About the Artwork

I love white wine! So color was where I started, mixing a color that would be a great match for a white wine. The Parthenon structure is a compelling image and was to be part of the painting, so why not central? It was inspiring to be asked to make this label.

About the Process

Jenny Bloomfield’s paintings emerge from a poetic dialogue between her external and internal worlds. Her creative process is shaped by the interplay between observations and experiences gathered beyond the studio and the introspective realm of making the painting itself. Through her use of materials, she explores the complexities of these influences, employing paint as a metaphorical language to express their depth and nuance.

Rather than working directly from nature, Bloomfield relies on memory, intuition, and the expressive qualities of paint, allowing the work to reveal what is most meaningful as it unfolds on the canvas. Beginning with broad abstract marks, each painting develops gradually, discovering its own rhythm, movement, and composition. Through layers of color and gesture, the work evolves into a new form of expression, uncovering ideas and meanings embedded within the creative process and ultimately existing on its own terms.

About the Artist

Jenny Bloomfield is a San Francisco Bay Area painter whose atmospheric abstract paintings explore landscape, light, and environmental change. Working primarily in acrylic, her paintings translate direct observation of the natural world into layered fields of color and gesture. Her work often begins with experiences in the landscape — from canyon walks near her studio to travels through desert environments — which are later reimagined in the studio through an evolving language of abstraction.
