About the Process

Many of Brown’s large-scale paintings are created from memory, though he sometimes uses photographs as a starting point. This approach allows him to work beyond literal representation, focusing instead on the emotional and sensory imprint of an image. Brown often arranges figurative images in collage-like compositions, placing them in unexpected or surreal contexts. He frequently incorporates repeating shapes or patterns in the background, which serve as a structural and rhythmic element that underpins the narrative.
